Purchasing Agent - Dallas
The Purchasing Agent plays a crucial role in delivering our mission and achieving our goals. In this role, you will ensure proper stocking levels of products at all locations while working to maintain relationships with vendors and provide quality products for our customers. You will prepare purchasing requisitions and correspondence, verify purchasing orders, resolve discrepancies with vendors and other internal departments. You will run and analyze purchasing reports and monitor sales records and inventory levels. You will ensure materials, equipment, and supplies are ordered and delivered in a timely manner.
Other duties for the Purchasing Agent include but are not limited to:
- Ordering parts, equipment, and supplies as required to meet inventory and sales goals
- Appraise products, examine catalogs, industry publications and directories to find the right product or supplier
- Negotiate prices, terms delivery, and develop relationships with suppliers
- Collect, return, and sell or dispose of surplus stock
- Assist and work closely with other departments or branch personnel as needed
- Duties subject to change as needed
Requirements
- Proficiency in MS Office with an emphasis in Excel
- Intermediate mathematic skills and processing basic financial procedures
- High attention to detail
- Ability to analyze, summarize and compile data
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to communicate with all levels of management and vendors
- P21 or equivalent ERP system
Educational Requirements and/or Experience Required
- Minimum High School diploma, however, some college or related coursework is preferred
- At least 1 year of purchasing experience is necessary; 2 years purchasing experience in a wholesale/manufacturing environment is preferred
